Each spring Sheila and I like to refresh our entertaining ‘arsenal’ with a few key pieces to accent our existing inventory of dining/bar/service wares keeping with the latest trends.
It’s important to remember that replacing all your entertaining items is just not feasible, so we recommend picking a few pieces that will complement what you already have, and that will last as ‘staple’ pieces.
For spring 2020 Sheila and I were inspired from the many trips we’ve taken to Tulum Mexico where boho-chic is the prevalent décor theme and gives the hotels, restaurants and beaches a laid back yet fashionable feel. The combination of earthy materials and warmer tones makes any space perfect for entertaining.
TABLE RUNNER

This table runner from Crate & Barrel with tassle ends and a small blue accent makes a great alternative to a tablecloth as it provides a nice accent to your table décor without covering the table entirely.
SUCCULENTS

We picked these assorted succulents from Home Depot since they require little care and will last forever. We also love the soft grey tone and shape of the pot they came in.
PLACEMATS & COASTERS

Like Sebastien and I these woven placemats and wood/marble coaster were a match made in heaven!
PASTEL AND EARTH TONE TABLEWARES

This place setting fits perfectly into our boho theme with soft pink and blue china separated with a linen napkin and then finished with mat-gold cutlery and pink acrylic tumbler glasses.
SALAD BOWL

We probably have too many salad bowls already but couldn’t help but snatch this one up when we saw it. The combination of glass bowl with wooden trivet and serving utensils gives it an elegant feel that works in any environment.
WOODEN TRAYS

A wooden tray is probably the item we use most at home whether to serve drinks, use as the base for a self-serve bar, or even to stack glasses are shown here. There really is no more versatile item you can own.
WOODEN BOWLS

These mini bowls can be used to serve nuts or chips, or can even be used for dips or spreads. We found them at CB2 where you can also find the matching wooden side plates.
LANTERNS

Candlelight is something Sheila and I love to use to create atmosphere, and as your move into spring and summer having larger lanterns with pillar candles gives you the flexibility to use them both indoors and out.
MONOGRAMMED MARBLE TRAY AND COASTERS

Marble is a great surface for presenting cheeses, cured meats and even fruit on as it’s easy to wipe down and dishwasher safe. This monogrammed tray and matching coasters really caught our eye with the gold S & C … Sebastien thinks it stands for Sebastien Centner but we all know it stands for Sheila Centner!
HAND BLENDER

A great hand-blender is an absolute must in any kitchen. We use it all the time; to chop, whip, purée or mash, it is our go-to tool and having one that combines functionality and style is imperative. We chose the SMEG hand blender because we loved its retro-look but also because it comes with a ton of useful accessories and is high powered enough to tackle even the toughest jobs.
TEQUILA DECANTER AND SHOT GLASSES

What is a visit to Mexico without tequila!!! And with Cinco de Mayo right around the corner we thought this amazing tequila decanter and set of shot glasses is perfectly timed!
TEA TOWELS

You can never have enough tea towels so when you find good ones … stock up!
RISERS

Risers and cake stands can be used in a variety of ways, from presenting cakes, fruit or even charcuterie and cheese, to setting up your buffet essentials of plates and roll-up napkins and cutlery. These stone and steel ones from CB2 come in two sizes, each with a different type of stone base.
