Amore Mauritius
Lush, luxurious and laid back: it’s hard not to fall in love with the Shangri-La Le Touessrok Resort and Spa
Mauritius is one of those hero destinations where even the mention of the island nation in the Indian Ocean sends seasoned travelistas into a zen-like trance. Located some 2,000 kilometres off the southeast coast of the African continent, this tropical island genuinely lives up to its hype, with destinations like the Shangri-LaLe Touessrok Resort and Spa providing a lush, green paradise for its pampered residents.
Recently renovated, the five-star resort is set in the bay of Trou d’Eau Douce, on the quieter side of the island offers its guests a truly magical stay, with three different areas all set along their own stretch of beach.
For couples, the Coral forgoes the fun and frolics of the main hotel and pools, instead, treating its lovebirds to a more intimate time.
Hibiscus is much more family-friendly, keeping the little ones entertained at the kiddies club, while Mom ‘n’ Pops relax by the main pool.
Mixing it up is Frangipani, which allows its guests to chose between the all-out enjoyments of Hibiscus, or take the more chilled-out vibe of Coral.
Then there’s Le Touessrok’s villas which are secluded enough to warrant their own 24-hour butler service. Set in a separate part of the resort these three private lodges have their own beach and tropical gardens.
Whichever area you choose, you wont be far away from the Shangri-La’s leisure facilities, which again can be as relaxing (spa) or as strenuous (gym, watersports) and of course, the resort has a number of dining options to chose from, including the multi-culinary Le Bazar; the Indian themed Safran; Japanese Kushi and last but not least, Le Republik, the beachside bar and grille.
There’s more though, as the resort has two private islands just a short boat trip away, which are for the exclusive use of the Shangri-la’s guests. Ilot Mangénie is all about relaxation, featuring a beach club with on-island butlers and then there’s Ile aux Cerfs, which is more or less an island golf course, designed by the famous pro-golfer Bernhard Langer.
With little touches like cold water and fresh towels always on hand, as well as your own beach bag, kimono and after sun dispenser waiting for you in your room, the Shangri-La Le Touessrok has every whim covered. All you have to do is sit back, relax and fall in love with this Mauritian paradise.
